This is a Yellowjacket Wasp (Vespula maculifrons). Very pesky!
Yellowjackets do not leave their stingers in you like Honeybees do. They do not
die after they sting and they can sing more than once. But usually their sting
doesn't hurt as much because a quick stab does not put as much venom in you as
leaving the stinger behind.
