
This is a female Black and Yellow Argiope Spider (Argiope aurantia) - sometimes called a garden spider.. She is sooo beautiful! Unless you happen to be a grasshopper, in which case you will likely be captured, wrapped up and eaten by her! When you see her in a photo like this, she stands out like a sore thumb. But in a field of goldenrod or grasses, she blends in so perfectly, is so cryptic, that you can hardly even see her.
