The Carolina Mantis (Stagmomantis carolina)  is one of two common species in central Ohio (The other is the Chinese Mantis which is on another BUGMAN Gallery page). It is small and usually mottled and can be either light to dark brown or pale green. This one blends in well to fences, trees and the browning stems of autumn wildflowers. Since it isn't covering itself with anything, this is an example of crypsis, not camouflage.
